Horatio Alger Association Scholarship:
The
Horatio Alger Association of Canada provides $650,000 annually in
need-based scholarship support for deserving students in all Canadian

who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming

What are Schulich Leader Scholarships?
Schulich Leader Scholarships are Canada’s most coveted undergraduate STEM scholarships.
Up to one hundred are awarded to entrepreneurial-minded high school
graduates enrolling in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math
program at 20 partner universities across Canada. Half are valued at
$100,000 for engineering scholarships and half are valued at $80,000*
for science and math scholarships.

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Valued at $28,000:
Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are open to students of all abilities.
To be considered for the Award, applicants must meet be:

first year of CÉGEP or students who have completed secondary (high)
school

The Dr. P. Anthony Johnstone Memorial
Entrance Scholarship, a $6,000.00 scholarship available to Nova Scotia
students entering their first year of university. The Province
established the scholarship in 1991 to honour the life and work of the
late Tony Johnstone, a long-time educator and human rights advocate who
devoted his life to promoting multicultural understanding and social
equality.
To
be eligible for the scholarship, a student must live in Nova Scotia, be
graduating from high school and beginning an undergraduate degree
program at a Maritime university in the fall. The applicant must also
have demonstrated an interest in multiculturalism and human rights.
Black Educators Association Bursary:
This is a $500 bursary. To be eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
• African Nova Scotian (Black) learner - At least one parent to be of African descent
• Resident of Nova Scotia
• Demonstrate financial need
• Continuing studies at Post-Secondary institution (i.e., university, college, trade, school, etc)
• Studying toward first degree or diploma at Canadian post-secondary institution

Pengrowth-Nova Scotia Energy Scholarships:
Pengrowth-Nova Scotia Energy Scholarship Program offers both a University as well as an NSCC scholarship.
University: Scholarships valued at $10,000 ($2,500 renewable over
four years), are awarded annually to students completing grade 12 at a
Nova Scotia high school with the intent to pursue energy-related studies
at university. Students applying for the university scholarship must be
accepted into an accredited post-secondary institution for studies in
business, science or engineering at the bachelor level. Students must be
graduating from a Nova Scotia secondary school with a full academic
course load in grade 12 and an average mark of 75 percent or B in their
final year. Applicants must also demonstrate a record of community
involvement, such as volunteer work, sports and other community based
activities. Students applying must not be receiving additional
scholarship support in excess of $2,500.
NSCC: The program also offers non-renewable $2,500 scholarships for
first-year students accepted to eligible energy-related trades and
technology programs at the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC).
Students
applying must demonstrate a record of community involvement such as
volunteer work, sports and other community based activities. Applicants
must be completing grade 12 at a Nova Scotia high school or be a mature
student. A mature student indicates someone who has graduated from high
school one or more years ago and is beginning their post-secondary
education at NSCC.

Construction Association of Nova Scotia Building Futures for Youth Award (NSCC)
has been established in support of the Construction Association of Nova
Scotia’s 150th Anniversary Industry Campaign. This campaign was
launched in recognition of the value of education and the role of the
construction sector in the growth of Nova Scotia’s economy. To be

Nelson Civic Leadership Scholarships support
community-minded student leaders in achieving their educational goals.
Three $5000 scholarships will be awarded to students who have
demonstrated academic success, personal strength, and determination in
